AN IMPROVED BIN METHOD FOR BUILDING HEATING AND COOLING LOADS
Modified bin method is widely used to calculate the building heating and cooling loads or building energy consumption in China. The modified bin method neglects heat storage of the structure and its material, thus it may produce great errors. And for the lack of some weather data for modified bin method in China, it is not convenient to apply this method. To overcome these disadvantages in modified bin method, an improved bin method is put forward. In case studies, heating and cooling loads of an office building in Changsha, China, are calculated with the improved bin method, the modified bin method and the building energy consumption simulation software DeST, respectively. The result shows that the improved bin method can do much more accurate calculation than modified bin method does. Furthermore, the improved bin method can take advantage of existing outdoor weather data in China, which decreases the needs for extra weather data and thus simplifies the calculation process.
