OPTIMIZATION OF BY-PASS PIPE BASED ON TRANSIENT ANAYLYSIS IN HEATING SYSTEMS
It is significant to pre-estimate the intensity of the water hammer wave of heating systems so that preventive devices can be incorporated into pipe systems to circumvent such trouble. The by-pass pipe as a protection device is to attenuate the transient pressure wave when the power failure happens. So the transient analysis is necessary for determination and calculation of the by-pass pipe diameter. In the study, the theory and the techniques of the transient analysis are represented firstly. And then based on the transient analysis, the optimal design of the by-pass pipe in an actual heating system is performed by using the numerical simulations with and without by-pass pipe. The study contributes a lot to design, operation and management of heating systems.
