TEST STUDY ON VOC EMISSION OF WET BUILDING MATERIALS IN CHAMBER
VOCs emission from wet building materials is the main source of indoor air pollution, especially during the early days of new buildings or rooms which are newly decorated. This paper presents a experimental research, in which, a chamber were established and different kinds of web building materials emission characteristics were studied. Through the orthogonal experiment with the mixed paint which is used commonly in decorating, the emission model of toluene and the xylene has been fitted, with the tentative data analyzed by the non-linear regression method. Relationship between the influence factors and the wet material has been studied, and so does the connection degree. The wet building materials tested in this research include paints and coatings which are very popularly used in China. And the VOCs measured in this test included formaldehyde, benzene, etc. which is also easy found in a polluted indoor air. The emission conditions were similar to a normal ventilated room and therefore, the test date is used to make prediction for VOC pollution of indoor air pollution. This paper gives preliminary estimates of the average concentrations of VOCs during the early days of new buildings or newly decorated room. These preliminary estimates were also compared to the date of site test results.
