DIFFERENT THERMAL CONDITIONS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS AND TEACHERS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN UK
The students and teachers have widely differing thermal comfort requirements due to their different levels of clothing and activity in the classrooms. This paper describes a method for reconciling the different thermal conditions required by these two main groups, where they are settled in same room, and when there is no personal controlling for them on their environment. This research investigates the thermal conditions that are required by main groups of occupants in primary schools in United Kingdom as a case study, including: students and teachers. Standard students uniforms, formal clothing for staff and informal clothing for both groups of occupants have been observed in primary schools in UK; so this study determines the thermal conditions that are required by both groups of occupants for both formal and informal conditions. The method of this research is based on the Fangers PMV equation, and the thermal recommendations of ISO 7730 and CIBSE thermal standards. The result of this study showed that it is possible to reconciling the different thermal conditions required by the students and their teachers in one classroom in primary schools of UK.
