STUDY OF EFFECTS OF STRATIFICATION IN WATER TANK ON SOLAR HEATING SYSTEMS BY PLUG-FLOW APPROACH
This paper employs the plug-flow approach to model stratification of water tanks and conducts hourly simulation of some typical solar heating systems during a whole year. The results indicate that stratification in storage tank can significantly increase the collector efficiency and solar fraction of solar heating systems. Meanwhile the effects of some factors, such as types of collectors, the temperature of supply water and the temperature difference between the supply and return water, on the performance improvement of the solar heating systems employing stratified storage tanks over those employing fully mixed tanks.
