NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF REGENERATOR IN LIQUID DESICCANT AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS

Regenerator which supplies strong solution to dehumidifier is an important component in liquid desiccant air-conditioning system(LDACS). The regenerator performance will straightly influence the efficiency of the entire LDACS. The operating principles of the multi-stage regenerator are introduced first. Hot water with the temperature of 70-80℃ is the heat source for the regeneration process. Outdoor air is being contacted with liquid desiccant and takes the moisture away from the desiccant. There are three fluids of air, solution flowing between stages, and hot water with incertitude relative flow directions in the regenerator. According to the different relative flow directions, four types of multi-stage regenerator are constructed. The paper analyzes the regenerating effect of the four types and selects the best one of them by theory and simulation. Based on the best type, effects of inlet parameters of air, solution and hot water on the regenerator performance are studied. Flow ratio of air to solute flowing between stages, hot water inlet temperature, air inlet temperature and air inlet humidity ratio are the most effective factors.
