EXPERIMENTAL STUDY AND MODELING OF THE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER PROCESS ON METAL PACKING SURFACE IN AIR HANDLING UNIT
The performance of heat and mass transfer between air and water on the metal packing surface was studied with experimental and numerical methods. Experimental data were processed by using multiple linear regression model. Two mathematical equations were given on coefficients of heat transfer αc and mass transfer αd。The mathematical model of heat and mass transfer between air and water flow on the metal packing was set up. Taking the heat and mass transfer coefficients obtained by experiments as the input parameters of the model, the temperature distribution of air and water flow on the packing surface was described. The simulation results agreed well with experimental data. Simulation results indicated that the mathematical model could be used to predict the performance of the heat and mass transfer between air and water flow on metal packing surface. The technique put forward in the present paper was suitable for optimization of the design of metal packing for air conditioning equiptment.
