EFFECTS OF ENVELOPE ENERGY SAVING STRATEGIES ON ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
Hot summer and cold winter zone in China has great population density and fast economic development. With the development of the economy, the demand for energy is increasing very fast while the energy supply is going short. Air conditioning both for cooling and heating accounts for more than 50% of the total electricity use in the residential sector, so this paper used eQUEST software to analyze the effects of residential building envelope on energy saving of air conditioner (AC). The envelope energy saving strategies include five single strategies namely exterior wall thermal insulation, exterior wall solar absorption coefficient, area ratio of window to wall, categories of glazing and kinds of shading system, and two combined strategies. It is shown that envelop shading and exterior wall thermal insulation are the efficient ways to decrease the AC electric consumption. The best way to decrease electric consumption of AC is the combined strategy case 1 which can decrease 25.92% of annual electric consumption.
