EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON THERMAL AND HUMID CHARACTERISTICS OF A ROOM WITH PLANTING ROOF
Planting roof for buildings has very good performances on energy saving, energy efficiency and environment improving. In our research work, the temperature and humidity of indoor and outdoor air have been tested hourly within our testing rooms. Under different weather condition, the thermal characteristics of the Room with Planting Roof (RPR) and the Room with Ordinary Roof (ROR) were tested in summer. The testing data from the experiment were comparatively analyzed and treated. Some empirical relationships between outdoor and indoor air parameters have been obtained. Apparent temperature differences (0.5℃~3℃ ) between RPR and ROR under different weather conditions are clearly shown. Because of the advantage thermal characteristics of a planting roof, such as its vegetation shading, transpiration of vegetation, heat absorption by vegetation, thermal resistance of soil, all of these factors make the temperature difference for heat transfer from outside into the room decreased. Meanwhile, the indoor humid condition and also the value of PMV are remarkably improved by planting roof. So the indoor thermal comfort of RPR gets apparently improved.
