Grid Computing-Based OGC Web Services Framework for Geoscience
With the Grid computing becoming the prevailing information infrastructure to facilitate the efficient and effective utilization of the distributed computing, storage, data, services and other resources, and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) developing a set of widely accepted web-based interoperability standards and protocols for sharing geospatial resources for geoscience communities, this paper presents how to combine them together to dramatically make good use of their power to offer best geospatial data and services to geoscience communities. Base on these two technologies, a geoscience specific Grid framework is proposed here. OGC standards-compliant geospaital Grid services are developed, deployed, and reused on the framework and provided to geoscience community for seamlessly serving distributed data, computing capabilities and other resources in the Grid environment.
