Study Surveys on High-Resolution Remote Sensing Image Segmentation

Image segmentation is a main research focus in the area of image analysis and machine vision since years. Methods of image segmentation become more and more important in the field of remote sensing image analysis. In the remote sensing community, the object-oriented remote sensing images analysis, which can bridge remote sensing and GIS, is a new and promising research field, and its basic issue to be solved is image segmentation. The characters of remote sensing image, especially in high-resolution special remote sensing field, such as tremendous image information, multi-bands, faint border and complex structure, etc. bring image segmentation much more difficulties. Hence, a survey of high-resolution remote sensing image segmentation methods is presented. The author summarizes the sensing image segmentation methods from two aspects systematically, which can be referenced by embedded study in the field and heuristic for those who are studying image processing and analysis.
