Building Template Automatic Matching Algorithm Based on Skeletonization

In this paper, pattern matching algorithms based on building skeleton are explored. In our view, matching building templates can be transformed into matching skeletons which can be seen as substitution of building. several skeletonization algorithms are analyzed. The algorithm workflow is iterative to match certain template. Firstly, skeleton of building polygon is extracted based on voronoi diagram. Secondly, Trimming and pre-simplification of skeletons is excuted. Skeleton graph is constructed as well as nodes whose degree is below 2 are merged. Building template which can be represented as node degree array and matched through array operation. If a building is matched with a template, the algorithm stops. Else simplification is needed to forward the simplified skeleton to next template matching progress. In the end of this paper, some application scenarios of building templates are summarized.
