Analyzing Urban Land Use Spatial Evolvement Process and Driving Mechanism from 1905 to 2004 in Changchun City, China

This study extracts spatial information of urban land use change in Changchun city, China in 1905,1932,1954,1976,1990 and 2004 by using remote sensing and GIS. Spatial evolvement process of urban land use is analyzed during 100 years in Changchun city. Spatial evolvement process of urban land use indicates the non-linear driving mechanism in the 100 years. The economy development, the population increase as well as land use policy spur the land demand; urban planning, urban roads, urban land price are the important factors to spatial location choice from land supply. The spatial evolvement process of urban land use is spatial location choice and self-organization process based on dynamical equilibrium with the supplies and the demand with the non-linear driving forces.
