An isotopic study on the renewable capacity of groundwater in the Manasi River Basin
Environmental isotopes serve as an excellent tracer for the study of water circulation. With Manasi River basin as the research area and the concentration of tritium in precipitation from 1953-2003 as the research data basis, this paper utilizes models to determine the average retention time and estimate the average renewal rate of the groundwater system. The results show that from the alluvial-proluvial fan to the desert area of the alluvial plain, the age of groundwater and the retentive time increase, while the renewal capacity decreases. In addition, the results reveal that different groundwater systems differ greatly in their renewal rates, among which the current phreatic water system in the plain area has the highest tritium concentration, the fastest renewal rate and the best renewable capacity.
