Hydrochemistry of arsenic in different parts of deltaic environment
The groundwater chemistry of both areas is almost alike, where the scale largely depends on the geospatial signatures. The result shows that the high concentrations of Arsenic are accompanied by high concentrations of Fe, PO4 and Mn. The water quality reveals that the groundwaters are in general Ca-HCO3-type with elevated levels of chloride. Statistical evaluation of the data suggests that the phyllosilicates (e.g.,chlorite, biotite) and clays are the main carrier mineral phases of arsenic in the aquifer. Study demonstrates that the redox-sensitive mobilization of As from Fe- and Mn-oxyhydroxide is likely to be considered as the main driver for the enrichment of As in groundwater from both areas.
