Research on hydrochemical characteristics of acid mine drainage and its prevention
Acid mine drainage (AMD) is an important aspect of mine security and environmental protection. This paper considers Si Tai mine, located in Datong in Shan xi province, as an example. After analyzing the hydrogeological conditions of formation of AMD and pyrite distribution and sulfur content of different coal seams, we present a survey of the distribution of AMD at this site. The hydrochemical components of AMD have been tested and analyzed, and compared with hydrochemical components from areas not affected by AMD.AMD from different locations in the underground mine is ranked by the hierarchical clustering method. Finally, predictive models of AMD are provided and some measurements (such as limestone treatment) are given. We present a theoretical and practical background for further research and prevention of Si tai mines AMD.
