Analysis of spatial characteristics of soil water of Marshland-dune areas in Horqin desert steppe, North China

In Horqin desert steppe, fixed dunes, semi-fixed dunes, moving dunes and marshland cover alternate locations in the steppe. In the special physiography with marshland-dune areas, the special characteristics of soil water are unique. In this paper, results of many site experiments of soil moisture and soil moisture at the root system are discussed. The spatial variance of soil moisture at different physiographies such as fixed,semi-fixed dunes, moving dunes and marshland are compared. Surprisingly, the soil moisture content at moving dunes is higher than that of fixed and semi-fixed dunes, and there is a better soil moisture condition at moving dunes. These comprehensive results are important and provide a guide to ameliorating ecological environment in the Horqin desert steppe.
