Geochemical and mineral magnetic characteristics of high arsenic aquifer sediment from Datong basin, North China

The purpose of this study was to test possible extension of the relationship between magnetic parameters and the some chemical elements in high arsenic aquifer sediment. The correlations between chemical elements concentrations and parameters are observed. The correlation factor values are frequently higher between iron and chemical elements than between magnetic parameters and the same chemical elements. For the same chemical elements, χ and F-ratio values are frequently better correlated than SIRM and IRM indicated the variable paramagnetic minerals amount present in the sediment samples. In studied samples, the correlation factor for Phosphorus are higher than arsenic. It suggests that phosphorus is easier to combine with magnetic minerals than arsenic.
