Saponin wastewater pretreatment by coagulation
A coagulation process was applied in the pre-treatment of saponin wastewater. Using a jar test procedure, three organic coagulants were compared and selected. Ferric chloride achieved the best performance with 15% removal efficiency of chemical oxygen demand (COD). Polyaluminum chloride achieved the second best performance, and aluminum sulfate was the least effective. Influencing factors, such as pH, coagulant dose and stirring conditions on the coagulation performance of ferric chloride were investigated and optimized.
