Water-rock interaction modeling of ore-forming process in a Carlin-type gold deposit, SW China

Modeling of the mineralizing process at the Shangmanggang Carlin-type gold deposit by CHILLER accurately reproduced both the paragenetic sequence of syn-ore alteration assemblages and the proportions of mineral assemblages. Input parameters were the chemical composition of the ore-hosting rocks, dolomite from Sazipo Formation (P1s) and sandy mudstone from Mongga Formation (J2m). The modeling path comprises isothermal dilution (Stage Ⅰ dilution and quenching)-isothermal reaction with host rocks (Stage Ⅱ Ore-forming fluid/dolomite interaction-isobaric cooling (Stage Ⅲ cooling)-isothermal reaction with host rocks (Stage Ⅳ interaction of the ore-forming fluid with the sandy mudstone)-isobaric cooling upon opening of the system (Stage Ⅴ).
