Stability of a high rocky cut slope: Dynamical and numerical analysis using FLAC3D
The issue of slope stability is one of the most important physical interactions of water and rock(WRI). In the process of constructing roadways, the problem of stability on high rocky cut slopes has been increasingly emerging. Stability of this type of slope is simulated by numerical modeling techniques using discretization, to provide valid and economical prevention and treatment measures. Based on the engineering geology of a portion of expressway in Hubei, China, a three-dimensional dynamic simulation analyzed the shape and process of a slide by using FLAC3D. The result was used to guide engineering construction, and useful results were obtained for the prevention and treatment of this landslide. We suggest that FLAC3D is a valuable program for analyzing the stability of rock masses, and can be used widely in geotechnical engineering.
