Development of Embedded Operating System For Warship Electronic Equipment ATS
In an intermediate-level warship electronic equipment ATS (automatic test system), we developed an equipment called Portable Maintenance Aid Equipments (PMAE) which could cooperate with the main testing system in realizing remote measurement and control through virtual instrument (VI) technology. In these PMAEs, ARM(Advanced RISC Machines)- based microcontroller was used to realize 0-slot VXI controller as well as some dedicated VXI test modules, and developing suitable embedded operating system available on the embedded system architecture was thought a crucial problem to meet different requirements. VxWorks run-time system software was chosen as embedded operation system which could be tailored to specific custom hardware architectures. The application procedure flowchart was given in the paper, non-preemptive scheduling and dynamic memory allocation method was also discussed. Test results indicated good performance of real-time operating system in time-effectivity and flexibility adaptable to different applications needs.
