Research and implementation on μC/OS-II operating system into wireless networked sensors
Many sensor networking applications such as surveillance and environmental monitoring are time-sensitive in nature. To support such applications, we improved and implement μC/OS-II, an embedded real-time operating system with preemptive support for use in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we introduced the significance that applied μC/OS-II on wireless networked sensors firstly. Then, the specialties what a sensor nodes operating system should possess are discussed in detail, which includes essential and advanced specialties. At last, we elaborated the strategies and measurements that used to improve μC/OS-II. The results of performance evaluations shows that improved μC/OS-II offers enhanced advantages than other sensor network operating systems, so we can notice it is easily applied to real sensor network applications.
