New Research About The Continuously Measure Wheel/Rail Contact Point On-rail
On-rail detecting of contacting points between wheel/rail is very important to monitor the safety status of the running vehicle. But it is very difficult because of the rotation of the wheel. On the basis of conventional instrumented wheelsets, an additional bridge to induce the changes of contact point is added. In order to decrease the influence of the rotation of the wheel, 6 bridges needed. Equations between output of the bridges and contact point are non-linear. A method based on Principal Component Analysis(PCA) is used in the paper to map 6-dimense vector to 2-dimense one, and simplify the complex equations to linear equations. Contact points can be obtained by the solution of the linear equations. Experiment shows high accuracy of this method.
