A Survey of the Theory and Delay-time Modelling for Equipment Maintenance
An appropriate implementation of well planned equipment maintenance management is a key factor for improving equipment efficiency and maintaining the companies competitiveness. This makes the development and application of suitable maintenance theory and models more and more important. This paper surveys the research published on maintenance models in general and delay-time modelling in particular over the past thirty years. Firstly, the failure intensity curves of equipment, maintenance policies, the development of maintenance models and theory are briefly presented. Secondly, the theory and models of delay-time modeling, the maintenance decision and its optimization are discussed in detail. Finally, this paper concludes with comments about maintenance theory and models with the expectations to obtain inspiration on the future researche, and explore the development directions of the application of the maintenance theory and models, ies.
