Consignment Stock Model and Transportation Policies in A Single-Vendor Multi-buyer System

Consignment Stock ( CS ) is a special case of Vendor Managed Inventory ( VMI). This paper analyzes CS model under a single-vendor multi-buyer system setting. We develop two transportation policies to analyze the overlapped effects of the CS mechanism and different transportation policies. The operating cost of the CS model is compared with the traditional model and the two transportation policies are compared in the two models respectively. The results show that the second policy is better than the first one in both of two models and the performance of the CS model is better than that of the traditional model when both of them adopt the better transportation policy.
