A Note on the Optimal Ordering and Replenishing Policy of the Supplier in VMI
Vendor managed inventory (VMI) is emerging as a significant development in the recent trend towards collaboration and information sharing in supply chain management. Transfer of inventory monitoring and other overhead costs to supplier and continuous replenishment of buyer inventory are commonly cited as potential benefits that VMI program offers to buyers. In this paper, we show the optimal ordering and replenishing policy of the supplier in VMI systems.
