An Inverse Optimization-based Method for Resolving the More for less Paradox Effectively in Transportation Problems
The more for less paradox is a phenomenon existing in transportation problems that it is possible to send more flow from supply to demand nodes at lower cost, even if all arc costs are positive. And thus implies the supply-demand network facilities irrational layout. In this paper, based on a brief overview about the inverse optimal value problem of the linear programming (LP) and its related algorithms, we bring forward a method for resolving the transportation paradox effectively. Which, maybe give a quantitative analysis for the management innovation activities during the transportation programming practice. And a numeral example is presented in the end.
