Environmental Innovations and Clean Technology; The Dynamics Analysis
Clean technology is the most promising way of dealing with pollution since they enable to reduce pollution at source instead of treating the pollution once it has been created. However clean technology normally implies an adjustment of the production process and so affects the productive efficiency and the performances of the product. The difficulty for firms is linked to their ability to develop environmental innovations that combine quite a lot of dimensions influencing their competitiveness. On the basis of a micro-simulation model of industrial dynamics, the model we are developing attempts to formalize the verbal argument about the major dimensions explaining the particular pattern of evolution of clean technology and try to understand how an industry could cope with improvements in environmental performances. Furthermore our models incorporates the main stylized facts of technological change put forth by authors of evolutionary approaches and draw some policy implications.
