Regional Financial Development and Regional Economic Competitiveness
In recent years, local governments in China pay more and more attention to regional economic competitiveness for they begin to take the responsibility of developing local economy. Therefore, the study of relationships between regional finance and regional economy has become an important issue. Here, we briefly review literature on the relationship between regional finance and regional economy and illustrate the specific mechanisms and patterns by which regional finance influences regional economy, discuss the empirical results of impacts of regional financial development on regional economic competitiveness, and propose the policy implications. We empirically investigate two empirical models on the relationship between regional financial development and regional economic competitiveness in Zhejiang province. The empirical results are consistent with previous evidence that financial regional development is positively related to regional economic competitiveness. The findings are quite useful for local government to make policies.
