Study on the Lean Product Development Way-Based R&D Base Structuring in Tianjin Binhai New Area
In this paper, firstly, we study carefully the theories, principles and methods of the Lean Product Development Way (LPDW). We find that the LPDW allows companies improve quality at product launch, faster development time, increase revenue since the product being perceived of higher value by the consumers, reduce inventory costs due to fewer components, reduce assembly times because the product is easier to manufacture, reduce product cost by better selection of material and manufacturing technologies. These are main advantages of the LPDW, which the R&D Base in Binhai New Area needs ( BNA). Secondly, we analyze in detail about the background, the necessity and the conditions of structuring Tianjin BNA into a R&D Base. After that we study deeply the procedure, the principles of the R&D Base structuring. Thirdly, because of the R&D Base structuring involves many aspects, such as the policies, the people, the processes and the technology aspects, a LPDW model for the R&D Base structuring is proposed, which consists of R&D ideology, R&D principles, R&D process and R&D methodology featured with LPDW. The theories, principles and methods of LPDW are extended into many layers of the model. And finally, based upon the LPDW model, several proposals on the R&D Base structuring in Tianjin BNA are put forward.
