Reliability-Based Subpacket Transmission for Hybrid ARQ with LDPC Codes
An irregular LDPC coded sub-packet hybrid ARQ(HARQ) scheme based on instantaneous reliability is presentedfor selection and retransmission. Reliability-based (RB) HARQwas initially proposed for Turbo coded case with iterativedecoding, whereas for irregular LDPC coded scenario, adegree distribution based (DDB) retransmission strategy waspresented that the nodes with large degree have higherretransmission priority in 10. In this paper, we focus on theimproved approach to segment and select sub-packetsaccording to instantaneous reliability for potential throughputperformance enhancement. Numeral results with link levelsimulation demonstrate that a significant throughput gain isrealized by setting suitable length of sub-packets for reliabilitybased retransmission than DDB scheme.
