Power Constrained Optimization for Two-hop Amplify-and-Forward MIMO Relay System
Given a constraint of the total power on all relay nodes in a two-hop amplify-and-forward MIMO relay system, optimal power allocation strategies are studied with channel state information (CSI) feedback or channel distribution information (CDI) feedback under rayleigh fading channel. Based on the criterion of maximal channel capacity, optimal power allocation schemes are given in a closed form. The scenario A with both 1stand 2 nd hop CSI outperforms the scenario B with only 2 nd hop CSI and C without CSI. Compared with uniform power allocation among all relay nodes, it is shown that CSI is essential to improve capacity gain.
