Paging Scheme under Delay Bounds for LEO Networks

Location management is a challenging topic in mobile communications; it consists of location updating and location paging. In LEO satellite systems, due to the moving of satellite coverage area, traditional paging methods cannot meet the need for paging delay and paging costs. Since the paging costs are associated with bandwidth utilization and the delay bounds influence call setup time, the paging costs and delay bounds are considered. Based on satellite mobility model, a new paging scheme under delay bounds is proposed in this paper. Simulations are done to compare the new scheme with some other paging schemes on paging delay and paging costs.
