A New Consideration for Provisioning Survivable Multicast Sessions in WDM Mesh Networks

It has been widely recognized that it is of paramountimportance to protect multicast connections against single linkfailure in wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) meshnetworks. In this paper, we introduce a novel considerationwhen provisioning survivable multicast sessions in WDM meshnetworks. This consideration captures the average number ofdestination nodes that are affected by a single link failure. Wepropose two routing schemes that efficiently support the newconsideration. We demonstrate by simulation the performanceof the two routing schemes.
