Development of a Lumped Constant Type Optical Modulator in the Microwave Band for Digital Terrestrial TV Broadcasting
This article describes development and construction ofan evolutional lumped constant type LiNbO3 optical modulatorthat operates via a faint signal in the microwave frequencies forTV program transmission of terrestrial digital TV broadcastingwith a bandwidth of 6-9MHz. This modulator modulates a lightbeam at 1.5 μ m with OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency DivisionMultiplex) signals at a 6-7GHz band and a voltage level of 60dB μ Vfrom a receiving antenna. Performance was satisfactory.
