Direction of Arrival Estimation Based on Spatial Signature with Unknown Sensor Gain and Phase

In this paper, the problem of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation using an uniform linear arrays with unknown sensor gain and phase is solved by taking advantage of spatial signature estimation. Unlike the previously proposed method which can only identify the relative DOAs, an improved ESPRIT-like algorithm is proposed to obtain the absolute DOAs estimation. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improved the estimation performance significantly, especially in case of closely spaced sources.
