Customer Innovation Motivations, Innovation Investment and Customer Knowledge: An Empirical Study in IT Applications

Customer innovation has become the focus of both researchers and managers in the process of pursuing sustainable competitive advantages by way of radical innovation and continuous improvement. This study is intended to explore how to achieve superior customer innovation performance in perspective of users. By choosing Apache network sever software communities in China as potential respondents, we find that endogenous motivations for customer innovation, customer knowledge and customer investment are the key drivers of superior performance of customer innovations.
