Employees Perception of Personality Similarity and Interpersonal Factors
The present research examined the relationship between interpersonal factors and perception of personality Similarity.Employees in Shanghai city have been chosen as subjects. Four interpersonal factors have been taken as independent variables. They are Gender similarity, personal friendship, Relative authority status, and Working Age. The dependent variable is perception of personality similarity which is measured by correlation coefficient between subjects score on Cattell 16PF and their workmates16PF grade evaluated by subjects. The result indicates that the connection between interpersonal property and perception of personality similarity is rather weak. Personal relationship and relative status of authority are two of the interpersonal dimensions, which affect personality cognition significantly. Contrasted to past research findings, significant influence which gender similarity exert on personality cognition has not been found. In addition, working age does not have significant influence on perception of personality similarity. Since the subjects are not sufficient, the generalization of these conclusions has been limited.
