The Influence of the Upgrading of Corporate Capability on the Evolution of Core Competence: An Empirical Study of Corporations in China

In recent years, core competence is a hot research topic both at home and abroad. According to many scholars view,corporate capability is the source of core competence. Then, whats the relationship between the evolution of core competence and the upgrading of corporate capability? The existing literatures towards this question are rather rare. Based on the questionnaire surveys of hundreds of senior managers mainly from Shanghai, Zhejiang, Beijing and Jiangxi, this paper carries out the empirical study on it. The result shows: (1) The upgrading of corporate capability has significant positive influence on the evolution of core competence; (2) The upgrading of corporate learning capability has significant positive influence on the evolution of core competence; (3) The upgrading of corporate innovation capability has positive influence on the evolution of core competence, but is less significant; (4) The upgrading of corporate absorptive capability has positive influence on the evolution of core competence, but is less significant.
