Investigation and analysis on whole- year energy consumption of urban residential buildings in Shaoyang City, China

The purpose of this study is to analysis the actuality of urban residential energy consumption in Hunan province, P. R. China, and to discuss the possibility of building energy conservation. 60 families were selected and the investigations on urban residential energy consumption were carried through in Shaoyang city of Hunan province, from January 2005 to December 2005. In this paper, the whole-year energy consumption of all investigated families is analyzed. The yearly energy consumption of the whole city is further calculated by confidence interval estimations. Sequentially, the relationship between yearly energy consumption and influence factors is revealed by regression equations. Conclusions are made as follows: per household electricity consumption of Shaoyang city in summer and winter is larger than that in spring and autumn, with its climax value of 1753.3±247.2 MJ/household in July and its nadir value of 759.3±144.5 MJ/household in April. Per household gas consumption reaches its climax of 962.7±119.2 MJ/household in January of winter and gets its nadir of 487.9±60M J/household in August of summer. The regression model shows that floor areas and household income brackets affect yearly energy consumption remarkably while age brackets and numbers of household members affect it indistinctively.
