Methodology of life cycle assessment and its application in hot-summer/warm-winter zone

Hot- summer/winter- warm zone in China is one of the most developed economy and most energy consumption district, which is also obvious features for buildings energy saving. So it is meaningful to carry out building cycle assessment in order to promote building energy efficiency and support sustainable development. A new method was present to assess building life cycle with the viewpoint of energy consumption and CO2 emission. Two buildings, one residential and one office building, were assessed over a 50 -year life cycle in hot -summer/warm- winter zone in China. In the paper, all elements can be denoted in energy price during building life, including material, construction, operation, maintenance and demolition. The research demonstrated that two buildings produce CO2 3.32 ton/m2 and 18.9 ton/m2, and consume energy 33901 MJ/m2 and 193050 MJ/m2 respectively during 50-year life.
