Investigation and analysis on residential energy consumption in Shanghai

The purpose of this survey is to look into the actual conditions of the residential energy consumption in Shanghai. The questionnaire survey of residential energy consumption was done in July and Oct. 2003 and Apr. 2004 for 200 apartments located in Shanghai. The questionnaire survey revealed the building characteristic, cooling equipment, life style, annual residential energy consumption and so on. The statistics are represented graphically for analysis of the correlation between residential energy consumption and multi-factors and the structure of residential energy consumption. The results demonstrate that residential energy consumption in Shanghai adds up to 8.6(GJ/a) and is much less than that in the developed countries. Almost 50% of residential energy consumption is used for cooking and 15% for appliance and 14% for hot water.
