Evaluation and optimization on indoor wind environment of high- rise residential buildings
This study intends to evaluate and optimize the natural wind distribution inside a typical high-rise residential building using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). One kind of dwelling units in three different storeys are selected as numerically simulated objects. And the impacts of natural ventilation openingslocation and size on indoor wind environment are mainly discussed. The results of study demonstrate that locating the inlet opening in the corner of windward face of the high-rise residential building may short cut the wind and cant channel the natural wind into the building effectively; it had better locate the inlet or outlet opening in the middle of wall when this wall is windward or leeward wall. In addition, using large total area of inlet and outlet openings and smaller inlet openings than outlet openings is helpful to enhance natural ventilation in the high -rise residential building.
