Modeling and simulation on the thermal performance of the hydraulic floor heating modular with shape- stabilized phase change materials for energy storage

A structure of low temperature hydraulic floor heating modular board using shape- stabilized phase change materials (SSPCM) for thermal energy storage was illustrated in this paper. A mathematical model of analyzing thermal performance of such floor heating modular was developed. The difference of thermal performance between the SSPCM floor heating board and the concrete floor heating board were compared by simulation. The effects of phase transition temperature, heat of fusion and thermal conductivity of the SSPCM on the average heat flux and energy storage ratio of the floor heating modular board were analyzed. The SSPCM floor can maintain stable heat flux for a long time, which is different from the concrete floor with large fluctuation heat flux. And the energy storage ratio of the SSPCM floor heating board is larger than that of the concrete floor, which makes much more thermal energy be transferred from night to daytime and utilized for heating during daytime.
