Measurement and analysis of the application of heat recovery ventilator in a residential room in cold region of China
Recently years, the insulation and airtightness of building envelope are strengthened greatly due to the demand of energy conserving. As a result, insufficient ventilation leads to a worse Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), especially in heating seasons in the cold region of China. This paper describes the results of measurements of Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) in Harbin (China) in winter. Temperature, humidity, and CO2 were measured to assess performance of HRV. The measurements were taken over a three-to four-day period in a residential room with normal occupancy. The average CO2 concentration was 788 ppm while the HRV was in operation, which meets the requirements of Indoor Air Quality of China ( GB/T 18883-2002 ). The thermal environment didnt be much affected during the HRV being turned on. There was a 1.8 ℃ indoor average temperature drop due to the switch on of the HRV. An overall average temperature efficiency was 82.6% during the test period of HRV being turned on. Therefore, HRV is an effective instrument to improve IAQ in cold region of China in heating seasons. Further study should be made for the application of HRV in cold region of China.
