TEST STUDY OF THE CRITICAL STATE OF UNSATURATED EXPANSIVE SOILS
The critical state of unsaturated soils is one of important features of unsaturated soils. To analyze factors affecting the critical state of unsaturated soils, a series of tests including drained shear, undrained shear and suction-controlled consolidation of Guangxi expansive soils was performed, and the critical state characteristics, yield characteristics in p-s space and strain-stress behavior of Guangxi unsaturated expansive soils were studied, based on the principles of unsaturated soil mechanics. The research results show that the critical states are similar to those of saturated soil. The state parameter M is independent of suction.
