SIMULATION OF HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT IN A HIGH TEMPERATURE LATENT HEAT STORAGE SYSTEM
Considering melting temperature and costs, salt is the most promising phase change material (PCM) for the high temperature latent heat storage unit (HTLHS), however, it is not be used to commercial scale because of their low heat conductivity. Therefore, heat transfer enhancement is essential. Here we present a new method based on foils with high conductivity to improve heat transfer in HTLHS. Then models for the solidification in HTLHS are numerically simulated using the Fluent? The computation results show the enhancement of foils and optimum foil structure for a given charging/discharging power.
