Global interest in harnessing renewable energy resources has dramatically increased due to the confluence of several factors. After a brief, but broad overview of renewable energy utilization scenarios, this paper focuses on the employment of Integrated Renewable Energy Systems (IRES) to “energize remote rural areas, achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life and the human living environment.
