ANALYSIS AND OPTIMIZATION ON PERFORMANCE OF PARALLEL TWO STAGE SOLAR LIQUID DESICCANT DEHUMIDIFIER

A novel parallel two stage solar liquid desiccant dehumidification system, for which the desiccant solution are fed to the two dehumidification stages in parallel way and the mass flow rates can be regulated independently, has been studied. The driving force for mass transfer is enhanced and the air-solution mass ratio can be varied more flexibly. Also utilized is an additionally stage-to-stage air cooling apparatus, which can considerably ease the side-effect brought by mixing heat in the process of adiabatic dehumidification. The objective of this paper is to investigate the performance of such solar assisted liquid desiccant dehumidification system with new absorber, and explore the performance. It is found that the solution allocation ratio 0.45 between two stages will yield highest dehumidifier effectiveness (71.9%) and enthalpy effectiveness (84.1%), and the addition of cooling between the two dehumidification stages can considerably improve the dehumidification performance.
